In May of this year, Wired Magazine ran an article about the revitalization of small cities, and how that revitalization feeds the knowledge and creative economy. In an excellent case study, Wired looked at Omaha and gave a step by step overview of the past 20 years of development in downtown Omaha and how that let to our city being one of the “Midwest’s most vibrant cultural hubs.”
We’ve seen this growth firsthand – the downtown area where our offices are is constantly shifting and the talent that we see in Omaha continues to grow. The knowledge worker and creative talent in Omaha is growing too – new talent is popping up everywhere, and we’ve happily added some of that talent to our staff. Here’s a look at IRiDiAN Group’s newest talent:
Dawn Sailors is our new Art Director/Digital Media Designer. She comes to us from Jelecos Systems, which merged with her former employer, iAppeal Media in 2010. A Visual Communication and Design major from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, Dawn is an award winning designer specializing in motion graphics, website layout, print design and identity development. Her design “philosophy” is something she calls “intentional design” – a purpose behind every design element, and a reason for their placement. Essentially, she asks “why is this element here?” We’re glad she’s here and we know our clients will be too!
Andy Warren is the newest programmer to join the IRiDiAN Group team. A soon-to-be graduate from Metro Community College, Andy specializes in HTML and CSS and is learning PHP and SQL. His goal? To become a PHP developer and to make sure our websites work well, and to make sure they communicate nicely with your back-end databases. We are excited to have Andy on board to help our sites fly right.
Over the next few months, we’ll share a little bit about the rest of our team – just a few of the great creative minds here in Omaha!
